Paresh, a 3rd-generation photographer turned digital marketer, found his true calling in the world of specialty coffee after a decade of working from cafes in Dubai. Upon returning to Indore to be with his parents, he discovered a lack of quality coffee in this town. This sparked a desire to transform his passion into a business, leading to the creation of Zenagi Coffee. Paresh’s journey is a testament to how a deep love for coffee, combined with a keen understanding of marketing for various industries, can lead to significant industry impact.
Paresh’s journey into the world of coffee began not with a bean, but with a need. After spending over a decade working as a digital marketer from various cafes in Dubai, he developed a refined taste for quality coffee. Returning to his hometown of Indore, he found the local coffee scene lacking. This realization, coupled with the desire to find a new professional path post-pandemic, ignited his entrepreneurial spirit.
Initially, Paresh considered entering the coffee industry as a trader. However, through extensive research and conversations with industry experts, he recognized a critical gap: the last-mile challenge. The lack of skilled baristas and consumer education presented a significant hurdle to the growth of specialty coffee in Indore.
To address this challenge, Paresh decided to dive deep into the world of coffee education. He completed a short course from the Specialty Coffee Association of India (SCAI) at Benki’s Brewing Tools in Bengaluru. This experience opened his eyes to the complexities and nuances of specialty coffee, providing the foundational knowledge he needed to start Zenagi Coffee.
“With every stakeholder in the value chain giving valuable information, these became the setting stones for Zenagi Coffee,” Paresh recalls.
Armed with newfound knowledge, Paresh shifted his focus from trading to barista training and consumer education. He understood that building a thriving specialty coffee culture in Indore required a holistic approach, addressing both the supply and demand sides.
Over the past three years, Paresh has been instrumental in shaping the specialty coffee industry in Indore. He has organized numerous events to educate consumers, fostering a greater appreciation for quality coffee. His work with local cafes has helped elevate their standards and introduce specialty coffee to a wider audience.
